Working in front of a computer for 8+ hours a day requires an ergonomic computer workstation to avoid fatigue. After checking for available commercial solutions and not finding anything to our liking, we decided to use our in-house CAD/CAM technology to create our own. The workstation was designed using Mastercam. It is specifically designed for a 17" laptop.
Some artwork was added to the sides and face of the door on the front. The door was machined using artwork and tool paths created with Mastercam Art. The artwork on the side was cut by hand using scroll saw.
Here is the finished product. The configuration allows you utilize the space above the laptop keyboard as a desk. The lowered keyboard and mouse ledge puts your wrists in a comfortable position for typing. The hooks on the right side form a portable phone cradle. Storage is provided behind the 'maple leaf' door and speakers can be mounted on the shelves, because good tunes lead to good software.
